207 AI developers voted across an emerging category where no single vendor yet dominates. Here is what the results reveal about the future of AI memory.
The March 2026 IT Brand Pulse AI Brand Leader survey asked 207 members of the AI developer community to vote for Market Leader and Intelligence & Innovation Leader in AI Memory Platforms, one of 26 products in the AI Engineering stack. Mem0 took the top position in both categories, receiving 25.1% of votes for Market Leader and 28.0% for Intelligence & Innovation Leader. Zep finished second in both pillars with 19.8%.
The results show a fragmented and highly competitive landscape. Mem0’s Market Leader vote total was tied with the “Others” category at 25.1%, underscoring that developers are still actively experimenting across a mix of focused startups and broader ecosystem players. The IT Brand Pulse analyst team expects the category to bifurcate into independent memory infrastructure providers and embedded memory platforms within broader AI stacks.
What Are AI Memory Platforms?
IT Brand Pulse defines AI Memory Platforms as software systems that provide persistent, structured, and retrievable memory for AI agents and applications. These platforms extend LLMs beyond stateless interactions by enabling long-term context retention, semantic and episodic memory storage, vector-based retrieval, session continuity, personalization, and cross-agent knowledge sharing. AI Memory Platforms are emerging as a foundational layer for agentic AI systems, enabling more intelligent, adaptive, and stateful workflows across enterprise and consumer use cases. AI Memory Platforms sits within the Context & Memory sub-layer of the broader AI Engineering stack, alongside AI Context Engineering Platforms, Multimodal Memory Platforms, Knowledge Graph Platforms, and Vector Databases.
